Nines and Falling Asleep

Nines are great at creating a feeling of harmony and peace.. They are generally easy-going and relaxed, and can see all sides of a situation. Under stress, however, they have a tendency to fall asleep to themselves and go along with others, denying their own desires to avoid conflict. We all have a bit of Type Nine inside of us. How are you disengaging to avoid conflict? The antidote? Being fully present and awake in the here and now. As Rumi tells us, "Don't go back to sleep".

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

Don’t go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want.

Don’t go back to sleep.

People are going back and forth across the doorsill

where the two worlds touch.

The door is round and open.

Don’t go back to sleep.

~ Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks
